Missio Dei GR

Give to the one who asks...

So its been a while since I have posted anything but this past week was a difficult study/ teaching. I continually find myself being selfish, looking out for number one, and I hate being taken advantage of. Therefore I am terrible at giving to those who ask (or turning the other cheek, or giving my most basic possessions, or going the extra mile...). I know that if I were faced with someone robbing me or public humiliating me I would have a really hard time following Jesus' words and example. I suppose it has a lot to do with the small opportunities I have to follow his words. If I can recognize small times when I'm being taken advantage of or being slightly humbled, (i.e. while I'm driving and someone cuts me off, or when I'm at a restaurant and the service is bad, or whatever...) and I can respond with a kingdom attitude rather than a selfish one, then I will see movement in my heart for the big times. I recognize the balance of Justice but I'm not sure that Christ gives us that luxury. I know I can and should fight for justice for others but should I fight for my own personal justice? Should we live like Jesus lived and if so must we die like he died? I know it seems obvious but... man its hard...
Here's to sacrifice beating the hell out of selfishness...literally

Here is a question. What exactly is the Christian response to someone wronging you in any given situation? Are we not imaging bearers? Are we to just say its ok and smile and go on with our day? Is it a lack of meekness to address and go against the grain of someone oppressing you? If we lived in a land that we could die for our faith, would it be wrong to defend ourselves if someone was trying to kill us, or cause us to suffer. On a more practical note is it wrong to not accept the wrong others do to us (lie about us, steel from us, walk all over us) should we take it? Or is it ok to defend ourselves. Is defense un biblical?
I know that’s a tall amount of statements getting at the same thing but I think we need to re think what he can and can not do in Christ. I’m not saying go start a fight with those people, but what can we do to defend ourselves as both image bearers and children of God.

Another quick thought and I will be done and let others get a word in. If we are called to social justice then if we are being treated unjustly shouldn't we defend ourselves and cause ourselves to be justly treated. Keeping in mind of course mercy and grace. The person who is being beaten for money or raped for someone else’s pleasure in the back alley who is a Christian does not say no to help if help is offered when someone comes to their aid. Wouldn’t that be like defending themselves by allowing you to defend them if you could?

So, it been a long while since anyone has written on here so I will give it a whirl of conversation. question of the day. (i have my answer but I will allow you all to discuss and see what you all come up with.)

what is the most important thing in life that a person needs in order to become a over all healthy individual and why?

I encourage you all to think outside the box on this one.

The mystery of a friend can shine as a last ray of hope, and the promise of a new dawn once again approaches as the powers that be entrust to me dominion over specific instances in life. I’m not free, but as long as the seal of power remains over the oppressors I finally am. Looking at the future road the rain has subsided with a new world of opportunity and challenges to occur. In his last breath my friend sought to give me hope, and hope is what I found in his encouraging words. Now with him gone but only for a moment in time I will press on with renewed strength and the light of the words of wisdom to help guide my path. Uncertainty remains at every corner of every side I treed, but I press on toward the mark of what I need to accomplish. The spirit of the friend will always be with me in spirit, and soon with have the strength to come back to me, rising from the ashes more powerful than the phoenix and with more light than the sun. But for now I must build my legacy from the shattered remains of those who most wished to destroy me and who wanted to cast me into the shadowy abyss for eternities end. Always holding on to hope and rising far above all hopelessness
